TRANSPORTATION

Public transport from Santo Domingo:

Go to the Barahona bus stop called SINCHOMIBA, located at the intersection of Calle Doctor Betances and 27 de Febrero. The cost of transportation is two hundred and fifty pesos (RD $ 250), with a duration of approximately four hours to Barahona. Just before arriving in the city of Barahona, get off at the Cruce de Cabral (Cabral Junction), where you will find the public transportation to Polo. Guaguas (little buses or pick up trucks) will regularly arrive every 30 minutes from 7am until 4pm. The cost of Barahona to Polo is 100 pesos and the approximate duration is one and a half hours to reach the municipality of Polo.

Another alternative:

Go to Caribe Tour and board a bus to Barahona. The cost is two hundred sixty pesos (RD $ 260.00) and departure times begin with the first bus in the morning at 6:15 am and another leaving at 9:45 am, in the afternoon they start with one at 1:45 p.m. and the last at 5:15 p.m. After arriving in Barahona, follow the instructions described above. However, if you take a Caribe Tour bus after 9:45am, you will not be able to catch a guagua from Barahona to Polo until the following day.

In private transport:

Head for Barahona and turn right after reaching the Cabral junction about 3 kilometers before reaching the city of Barahona, about three and a half hours from Santo Domingo. Then follow the highway until you reach Cabral, about 11 kilometers of road; it takes about 30 minutes to get to the intersection to Polo. You will arrive at the "Esquina Caliente" at the western side of Cabral and turn left and continue straight until you reach the Municipality of Polo, about 21 kilometers; with a duration of one hour.
